Four Oil City YMCA Gymnasts Earn Top Finishes

OIL CITY, Pa. – Four Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars Gymnasts have earned top finishes at recent meets.

Laila Marvin placed 1st on balance beam and Sarah Jackson placed 1st on vault at the Warren Invitational.

Shayla Hanlon placed first on balance beam and Lily Mendoza placed first on vault and all-around at the Corry invitational.

The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars is a competitive gymnastics program for children in Venango and surrounding counties. The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars compete at Levels 2-8. The Tri-Stars compete in the Western PA YMCA league beginning in October and continuing until May.

The YMCA gymnastics programs are under the direction of Coach Heather Marvin.  If you are interested in any level of gymnastics, please contact the Oil City YMCA.

The mission of the Oil City Tri-Stars Gymnastics Team is to promote the sport of gymnastics by helping gymnasts learn the skills, techniques and attitudes required to be successful in gymnastics as well as in life.  Programs include:

PRE-K GYMNASTICS—Ages 3-5

Youth in Pre-K Gymnastics learn basic skills and fundamentals. This class is great for building strength while learning coordination and balance. Pre-K Gymnastics meets Mondays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Limit 15 children per class. Monthly Fee is $12/Members and $20/Non-Members

FUNDAMENTAL GYMNASTICS—Ages 6+

Youth are introduced to skills in bar, vault, beam and floor routines. For children wanting to pursue cheerleading and gymnastics, this program will help increase strength, flexibility and agility. Fundamental Gymnastics meets Monday & Thursday from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monthly fee is $32/Members and $55/Non-Members.

NINJA-NASTICS for Boys and Girls 6+

Ninja-Nastics is a class for ages 6+ that mixes gymnastics, tumbling, Parkour and the thrill of American Ninja Warrior into a fun program while combining tumbling, climbing, getting through obstacles, and even some flips to increase body awareness, coordination, agility and motor skill levels. Begins February 3. Held Mondays and Thursdays from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Monthly fee is $32/Members and $55/Non-members

GYMNASTICS TEAM

The gymnastics team consists of gymnasts who have the desire to compete. The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars compete at levels 2-9. Team practices are Monday/Thursday 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and other times TBA. For more information, please call Head Coach Heather Marvin at 814-677-3000. Team Fee is $50 per month.

FLIP & DIP – Held September through May

A 30-minute gymnastics lesson followed by a 30-minute beginner swim lesson for ages 3-5. *Hint: Kids wear swimsuits for the gymnastics lesson for a quick transition. Parents must stay for the program to help with the transition. Register by the first of each month. Held Thursdays from 5-6:05 pm. $20/Members; $40/Non-members.

YMCA Hours

The Oil City YMCA hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m, and Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
