Francis C. Lunz Sr
Francis C. Lunz Sr. age 82, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of the Troy Hill section of Pittsburgh, PA, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Golden Living Center, Titusville, PA.
He was born May 13, 1931 in Pittsburgh, son of the late Bernard and Hilda (Stang) Lunz.
On March 10, 1953 in Pittsburgh he married Anna M. (Geimer) Lunz. The couple just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s R.C. Church and the Knights of Columbus both of Tionesta. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army. Francis was a police officer and worked as a 1st grade Detective, Burglary Division, and in the Canine Unit, for the City of Pittsburgh retiring in 1989. During that time from 1982 until 1989, he also owned a private investigation firm, Steel City Investigations. He also worked for Hughes and Hatcher Men Store in Pittsburgh as a security guard.
He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1 of Pittsburgh. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved his Beagles.
Surviving are two sons, Gary F. Lunz of Pittsburgh; Francis C. Lunz Jr. and his wife Jean of Butler, PA. Three daughters, Mary Jo Hills and her husband Bruce of Pittsburgh; Mary Ann Goode of Export, PA; Bernadette A. Stewart and her husband Eric of Warrendale, PA. Eight grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. A brother, Edwin Lunz of Pittsburgh. Three sisters, Rosalia Abel of Millvale, PA; Marian Lorenz of Pittsburgh; Bernadette Kryl and her husband Joseph, also of Pittsburgh. Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Lunz and two brothers in infancy. Five sisters are also deceased, Gertrude Enz, Mercedes Bradley, Lorraine Rau, Dolores Enz, and Margaret Archey.
Friends will first be received at the Hughes Funeral Home, Inc 1501 Lowrie St. Pittsburgh, PA 15212 (Troy Hill) on Friday from 2-5pm.
Friends will then be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta, PA on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church at 10 AM with Father Joseph Kalinowski celebrating the Mass.
Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Tidioute, PA. Full military rights will be accorded.
