Frank M. Shorts, Jr.

Frank M. Shorts, Jr., 85, of Meadville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Crawford County Care Center.

He was born on July 11, 1930 in Bullion, Pennsylvania, a son of Frank M. Shorts, Sr. and Anita Shorts Robinette. He previously married Emily Josepha Maria Spannring and she preceded him in death on June 22, 1999. On November 24, 1993 he married Charlotte Petrie, she survives.

Frank served his country with the United States Air Force from December 17, 1951 to December 16, 1955.

He was employed for 25 years with John Lepley and Sons as a bus driver, Joy Industries for 37 years, and Welded for John Wallace and Strutters Wells.

Frank attended St. Paul’s Reformed Church.

He enjoyed bowling, playing the organ, hunting, fishing, throwing horseshoes, watching his boys race six wheelers and motorcycles, watching his sons wrestle, daughters cheerlead, and watching his children play in the high school orchestra.

Frank was an active lifetime member of VFW Post 2006.

In addition to his loving wife, Charlotte; he is survived by two daughters, Sonya Jones and her husband Dale of Franklin and Monica Forehand and her husband Garey of Chesapeake, Virginia; four sons, Thomas Shorts of North Myrtle, South Carolina, Larry Shorts and his wife Nikki of Gilbert, Arizona, Ernie Shorts and his wife Kimberly of Cooperstown, and Edward Shorts and his wife Lori of Conneaut Lake; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild to be born in October; a half-sister, Rosalie Shorts; and several cousins and one uncle.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Emily Josepha Maria Spannring; a sister; Patricia Otteson; and two half brothers, Howard Robinette and Ronald Shorts.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 P.M. with Reverend Joel R. DiAngi, officiating.

Burial will take place at Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, PA.
