Franklin Baseball Holds On to Beat Grove City

FRANKLIN, Pa. — Franklin Baseball’s solid pitching led the Knights to a 4-3 win over Grove City on Saturday.

Luke Guth started the game for Franklin, pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing one hit, one unearned run, and striking out six. Kyle Alexander threw the final 2 2/3 innings, giving up two unearned runs, two hits, and striking out two.

The Knights did their damage in the first, third, fifth, and sixth innings, with Noah Kockler and Joey Hedglin driving in three of the four runs. Guth led Franklin at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Carson Wible reached base three times on walks as well for Franklin.

The Knights were in a bit of a jam in the top of the seventh, with a two-out error tightening Franklin’s lead to one. With the tying run on first, Alexander got the strikeout to end the game, securing the Knights’ fifth win of the season.
