Franklin Baseball Rallies to Beat Reynolds in 11 Innings

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – Noah Turk’s two-run, two-out single in the bottom of the 11th inning lifted Franklin to a walk-off, 8-7, win over visiting Reynolds Saturday.

The Knights, who answered a five-run top of the sixth by Reynolds to tie the game at six with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, found themselves down 7-6 after the visitors got a run in the top of the 11th.

But in the bottom of the inning, Connor Rakow got the rally started with a lead-off double. Zach Baughman followed with a single that moved Rakow to third before an Austin Rhoads groundout moved Baughman to second. Ian Haynes was then intentionally walked to load the bases, but Jeffrey Knox grounded into a force out with Rakow out at the plate bringing up Turk, who laced the first pitch he saw into right field for the game-winning hit.

Rakow continued his strong season going 3-for-5 with a double, triple. a walk and a run scored. Brendon Gordon was 2-for-5 with a triple, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs, Baughman was 3-for-5 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored, Haynes doubled, walked, scored a run and drove in two and Turk was 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and two RBIs.

Rakow also got the win in relief going two innings allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out two.

Kaden Keely started and pitched five strong innings allowing an unearned run on four hits and a walk while striking out six. Haynes went four innings giving up five runs, all earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out eight.

ROCKY GROVE 11, JAMESTOWN 0, 5 INNINGS

JAMESTOWN, Pa. — Four different Rocky Grove players each drove in two runs to help the visiting Orioles to an 11-0 win at Jamestown.

Hunter Bruner was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Tyler Clayton was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Travis Perry was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs scored and Conner Curran was 1-for-4 with two RBIs for Rocky Grove.

Also in the win, Justin Heller was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Tyler Knupp was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Curran got the win going 4 2/3 innings allowing no runs on two hits and a walk while striking out eight.

HIKCORY 4, OIL CITY 3

OIL CITY, Pa. — Darren Mitchell drove in a pair of runs to lift visiting Hickory to a 4-3 win over Oil City.

Spencer McLaughlin and Hayden Gallagher each had a pair of hits for the Hornets.

Nate Hando got the win going four innings of one-hit ball, although he did walk eight. He gave up two runs, both earned, and struck out tow. Asher Patton got the save going three innings allowing one earned run on one hit and a walk while striking out two.

Dylin Chapin, Tylon Strawbridge and Shane Ruby had RBIs for Oil City.

Ruby took the loss going 6 1/3 innings allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out five.

MONITEAU 12, CLARION 0, 5 INNINGS

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. — Hunter Fitzingo tossed a two-hit shutout and also was on base twice to help visiting Moniteau roll to a 12-0, five-inning win over Clarion at the Clarion County Park.

Fitzingo needed just 77 pitches to get through the five innings. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out nine. On offense, he was 1-for-4 with a walk.

Nick Sosigian had four RBIs for the Warriors going 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored, while Jake Jewart was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. Jared Lominski and Nathan Sosigian also drove in a pair of runs each with Lominski going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored and Nathan Sosigian 2-for-2 with two walks. Gage Neal chipped in a double, two walks and an RBI

Spencer Miller and Cutter Boggess had the hits for Clarion.

Skylar Rhoades took the loss allowing four runs, all earned, on a hit and five walks in an inning of work. Miller then gave up six runs, two earned, in 1 2/3 innings on the mound. He allowed five hits and a walk and struck out two. Calvin German gave up two runs, both earned, in 2/3 of an inning allowing two hits and three walks while striking out one. Sterling Conner finished off with two scoreless innings of relief allowing a hit and two walks while striking out one.
