FRANKLIN, Pa. – For a quarter, Franklin tried to match visiting General McLane score-for-score and only trailed by eight, after one, 28-20.

But the Lancers (6-2 overall, 6-0 D10, R7) scored 28 more points in the second quarter and never allowed Franklin on the board again in a 63-20 victory Friday night.

Ian Haynes threw three first-quarter touchdown passes to Cade Adams for Franklin (3-5, 1-4) connecting on passes of 4, 48 and 81 yards, but Ben Howe-Jones scored three first-half touchdowns — two on the ground and one on an interception return — in the first half for General McLane.

Howe-Jones’ 54-yard interception return in the second quarter was the first of two consecutive pick-6s for the Lancers in the final 2:15 of the half. Luke Dillen returned another one 90 yards on the final play of the half.

Overall, General McLane scored three defensive touchdowns, as Xander Stalder also had 5-yard fumble return for a score in the first quarter.

Franklin was only outgained 442 to 387 in the game, but the teams went about it in different ways. All of General McLane’s yards were on the ground, while Franklin threw for 412 yards but lost 25 on the ground and turned the ball over five times.

Haynes was 22 of 32 passing for 367 yards, while Adams had eight catches for 214 yards. Dorian Gordan added six grabs for 73 yards.

Howe-Jones ran eight times for 223 yards for the Lancers.

Franklin is at Warren next week.
