Franklin Police Department reports around 9:15 a.m. August 30 a female teller said she was behind the register when a white male entered the store with his hand in his pocket and demanded all the money.

The man was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head, dark pants, mirrored sunglasses, and a blue bandanna covering his nose and mouth.

He is described as being between ages 40 and 50, approximately 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches tall, with dark facial hair.

The teller said he made away with an undisclosed amount of money from the register and the store’s petty cash, then exited the store and police believe he ran to a vehicle he had parked behind the store along Pine Avenue.

Officers recovered an excess amount of change between the rear of the store and Pine Avenue, believed to have been dropped by the suspect while he fled the scene.

Police used a K9 officer to attempt to obtain a direction of travel if the suspect fled on foot, but observed tire marks for a vehicle accelerating at a high rate of speed going the wrong way along Pine Avenue in the direction of Grant Street.

Police say the tire marks coincide with the vehicle parked at the location where the change was found.

A further investigation revealed the suspect may have been driving a green Chevrolet Malibu, possibly an early 2000’s model.

Anyone with information on this incident are asked to contact Officer Kutterna at the City of Franklin police department at 814-437-1644.

Anonymous tips may be left with Venango County Crime Stoppers via their website orFacebook page.
