Franklin Financial Adviser Jailed for Allegedly Stealing $180K from 97-Year-Old Meadville Woman

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Sources say a financial adviser from Franklin has been charged with allegedly stealing more than $180,000.00 from a 97-year-old Meadville woman over the past three years.

According to a published article in the Meadville Tribune, on April 14, 69-year-old David E.A. Seagren, of Franklin, was arraigned on 52 felony counts before Crawford County Magisterial District Judge Michael Rossi.

He was charged with the following offenses:

  • 22 counts of theft by deception
  • 22 counts of theft by unlawful taking, and
  • 8 counts of forgery

Police allege the thefts occurred between February 2011 and December 2013.

Seagren was the woman’s financial adviser for over 30 years, according to sources.

Sources say he allegedly stole a total of $183,786.86 from the elderly woman’s two checking accounts.

Seagren was placed in the Crawford County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 bond.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges at 11:00 a.m. on May 22 before Magisterial District Judge William Chisholm.
