WHEELING, WV – David Ferraro, a freshman at Franklin High School, has emerged as the nation’s best player in Propaganda at the 52nd National Academic Games Tournament at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Ferraro amassed the highest score among 129 of the nation’s best players over four rounds of the game Propaganda. Ferraro’s score helped his team to an eighth place finish.

While playing Propaganda, players learn to recognize techniques of persuasion that are often used by advertisers, politicians, editorial writers, and in normal human interaction. Players increase their ability to discern the truth from smokescreens; they learn to figure out the reality of situations rather than being duped by the techniques.

Ferraro has competed at the National Tournament each year since he was in sixth grade. Propaganda has been one of his favorite games throughout his Academic Games career.

The Academic Games Leagues of America sponsors the tournament annually to showcase the talents of the top players in each of seven games. Students compete against students from approximately 30 leagues in Propaganda, Equations, Onsets, Presidents, LinguiSHTIK, and World Events.
