FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A unique fundraiser for the Franklin Little League featuring a restored car that once belonged to Pittsburgh Pirates great Roberto Clemente will be held on Saturday, June 23, in the Franklin Junior-Senior High School auditorium.

The event will run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Doors open around 5:00 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $21.00 which includes ballpark-style food — hot dogs, hamburgers, pop, water, and chips — as well as custom-made No. 21 Eat’n’Park Smiley Cookies.

The fundraiser is to help raise money for a new fence at Colonial Williams Field at Miller-Sibley Park in Franklin and will feature a 1972 Special Edition 440 Magnum Charger that was presented to Clemente for winning the 1971 National League World Series MVP Award.

The event could include an appearance from Roberto Clemente Jr. if his wife doesn’t have the couple’s expected child early, as well as, Duane Reider of the Roberto Clemente Museum in Pittsburgh, and Manny Sanguillen, one of Clemente’s teammate. There may be appearances from additional former Pirates, as well.

In addition to the food, there will be raffles with Clemente memorabilia.

Tickets can be purchased at the Franklin branch of the Clarion County Community Bank and at either of Franklin’s Shop-n-Save stores or by calling Jeff Dye at 814-673-1044.

The car was restored by Dye’s brother, Randy, who is the owner of a Dodge dealership in Daytona Beach, Florida. Randy Dye purchased the car for $105,570.00 at the memorabilia auction preceding the July 2017 MLB All-Star game held in Miami, according to a story in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
