FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The Franklin Police Department responded to a report of a domestic altercation on Saturday night.

According to police, officers were dispatched to 10 Taylor Street at Oak Hill Apartments around 7:04 p.m. on Saturday, March 10.

Upon officers arriving on the scene and conducting an investigation, it was determined that Joshua Richard Mathieson, of Franklin, entered into a physical altercation and grabbed the female victim by the neck or throat with his hand pushing her into a door within the residence. The victim was holding a 16-month-old child causing the child to hit her head on the same door, police say.

While on the scene, officers discovered a small amount of marijuana within the residence. Upon taking Mathieson into custody, it was discovered he was also in possession of an additional small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Mathieson was arraigned in front of District Judge Andrew F. Fish on assault, reckless endangerment, and drug charges.

Unable to post $75,000.00 straight bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.
