Franklin Man Accused of Choking Woman Due in Court Tomorrow

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man is facing a hearing on felony charges on Wednesday after he allegedly choked a woman, causing her to fear for her life.

Court documents indicate 29-year-old Mitchell James Rudolph, of Franklin, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Franklin on Wednesday, September 4.

According to a criminal complaint, on September 4, a known female victim arrived at the Franklin Police Station to report that Mitchell J. Rudolph had choked her by placing his hands around her neck and applying pressure to the point she could not breathe.

The complaint notes the victim sustained injuries, including redness to her throat and neck area and what appeared to be broken blood vessels over the center of her throat, as well as an injury to her face and lip area where she stated Rudolph had bitten her on the mouth as he was choking her.

According to the complaint, the victim was in fear of serious bodily injury or death.

Rudolph was arraigned at 6:10 p.m. on September 5.

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, he remains lodged in the Venango County Jail.
