Franklin Man Accused of DUI Following Two-Vehicle Crash in Sugarcreek Township

SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Frankin-based State Police say around 11:10 a.m. on August 30, a Franklin man was arrested for suspected DUI following a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Meadville Pike and Patchel Run Road, in Sugarcreek Township, Venango County.

Police say the incident occurred when a 25-year-old Franklin man, operating a Chevrolet Impala south on Patchel Run, failed to stop at a clearly marked stop sign at the intersection of Meadville Pike and Patchel Run.

The Chevrolet entered the intersection in the path of unit 2 operated by a 48-year-old Franklin woman.

Unit 2 struck the Chevrolet in the driver’s side rear corner, causing it to spin counterclockwise one time and coming to rest on Patchel Run.

Unit 2 came to rest on the right hand berm of Meadville Pike.

All occupants were restrained and uninjured.

The Chevrolet sustained moderate damage, and unit 2 sustained minor damage.

Upon contact with the 25-year-old driver of the Chevrolet, he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

He was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence; charges are pending BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) results.

Community Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.

The names of the individuals were not released.
