Franklin Man Accused of Kidnapping, Indecent Assault of Minor Sentenced Up to Two Years Behind Bars

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man who allegedly held a minor against his will and attempted to force sexual contact on him was sentenced to up to two years behind bars on Thursday.

According to court documents, Judge Robert L. Boyer sentenced 30-year-old Warren Jesse Washington on Thursday, June 4, to a minimum of nine months and up to a maximum of two years less one day confinement followed by three years of probation on one first-degree felony count of Criminal Attempt – Kidnap to Facilitate A Felony.

He was given credit for 241 days served.

Court documents indicate Washington entered an Alford Plea on the above charge on March 9. In an Alford Plea, the criminal defendant does not admit the act, but admits that the prosecution could likely prove the charge.

As a result of the plea agreement, the following charges were dismissed:

– Criminal Attempt – Statutory Sexual Assault: 11 Years Older, Felony 1
– Criminal Attempt – Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse Person Less Than 16 Years Age, Felony 1 (two counts)
– Unlawful Contact With Minor – Sexual Offenses, Felony 1 (two counts)
– False Imprisonment of Minor/Not Parent, Felony 2
– Corruption Of Minors – Defendant Age 18 or Above, Felony 3
– Lure Child Into Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor 1
– Indecent Assault Person Less 16 Yrs Age, Misdemeanor 2

Washington remains lodged in the Venango County Jail.

The charges are the result of an incident that occurred in Franklin on October 6.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint filed by Patrolman Gilchrist, of the Franklin Police Department, around 9:53 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, he was dispatched for a complaint of a sexual assault. He spoke to a known male juvenile victim and his mother.

According to the complaint, it was reported to Patrolman Gilchrist that around 8:30 p.m., the juvenile victim entered an apartment with Warren Jesse Washington, and once they were inside the apartment, Washington allegedly attempted to force the victim to “perform numerous variations of unwanted sexual acts.”

The victim reported that he attempted to leave the residence, but Washington held him against his will in an upstairs bedroom “until physical sexual contact was made,” according to the complaint.

The charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office on October 8.
