Franklin Man Accused of Punching, Threatening Woman Due in Court Tomorrow

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man who allegedly punched a woman and threatened to kill her is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in court tomorrow.

Court documents indicate 51-year-old Richard John Swartz, of Franklin, is scheduled to stand for a hearing at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, on the following charges:

– Terroristic Threats with Intent to Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Criminal Mischief-Damage Property, Summary

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Franklin on June 9.

According to a criminal complaint, around 11:51 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, Patrolman Brownlee, of the Franklin Police Department, was dispatched to a residence on Norman Street for a report of a domestic assault.

According to the complaint, the victim told Patrolman Brownlee that Richard John Swartz punched her in the nose and face.

Visible injuries to the victim’s face were observed.

The victim stated that Swartz also threatened her, stating “You know what, b****, next time I will kill you,” and said she feared for her life, according to the complaint.

The victim also said that Swartz threw her lockbox, causing it to smash into the ground and rendering it useless, unable to be locked.

Damage to the lockbox was also observed.

Swartz was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 2:50 p.m. on Monday, June 10.

He remains free on $1,000.00 unsecured bail.
