SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man is facing a hearing on Wednesday on felony burglary and related charges in relation to incidents where he allegedly took over $2,000.00 of merchandise from an area business.

Court documents indicate 37-year-old Jacob Matthew Olson, of Franklin, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, on the following charges:

– Burglary — Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 2
– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1
– Defiant Trespass Fenced/Enclosed, Misdemeanor 2

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, he remains lodged in the Venango County Jail.

The charges stem from an investigation into the burglary of a business on Allegheny Boulevard.

According to a criminal complaint, Sugarcreek Borough Police were dispatched to a reported theft from a business on Allegheny Boulevard. At the business, they spoke with the victim and other store employees who reported the business had another theft overnight.

The complaint states the officers were then able to follow tracks in the grass, dirt, and other areas outside, and ultimately found a wood/metal cart belonging to the business off the south side of the business’s parking lot leading to the nearby railroad tracks. The cart was packed with items that had been removed from the business and was wrapped with plastic to secure the items for transport.

Officers then followed the railroad tracks south to under the Washington Crossing Bridge where they located a metal wagon that had been reported stolen from another business at around the same time. According to the complaint, the second cart was also stacked full of items from the first business and wrapped in plastic to secure it for transport.

The complaint notes officers also found several garbage bags of items, framed photo prints, and a luggage bag of items belonging to the first business along the bridge.

According to the complaint, employees of the business reported the value of all the items recovered was over $2,000.00. The stolen metal wagon was valued at $200 to $250.

Security footage from the business was then reviewed. According to the complaint, the footage showed a man, later identified as Jacob Matthew Olson, and an unknown female arriving at the business around 7:30 p.m., then entering the fenced area on multiple occasions, as well entering a separate structure where items were stored. This went on until about 1:30 a.m.

The complaint notes footage from security cameras at another nearby business from the night in question also showed Olson and the unknown female, and Olson was then identified by Chief Bob Wenner, who had previously filed charges against Olson on September 30, for another incident of the same conduct at the same business.

Olson is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, with Judge Lowrey presiding.
