Franklin Man Accused of Stealing Car Waives Hearing

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man who was found driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen waived his preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

Court documents indicate one third-degree felony count of theft by unlawful taking filed against 25-year-old John A. Wilson II, of Franklin, was waived for court on Wednesday, December 12.

The case has been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Wilson remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on Friday, November 16, a known victim reported to the Franklin Police Department that her vehicle, a Chevrolet SDN, had been stolen.

The victim stated her daughter, who regularly drives the vehicle in question, did not give anyone permission to drive the vehicle, nor did the registered owner, the complaint states.

The vehicle was subsequently placed into NCIC as a stolen vehicle.

Around 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, the Oil City Police Department contacted the Franklin Police Department advising they had the vehicle at a traffic stop.

According to the complaint, the Oil City Police Department reported that John Adams Wilson II was the driver of the vehicle.

Wilson was arraigned on Tuesday, November 20, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office.
