Franklin Man Accused of Striking, Kicking Woman

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A 37-year-old Franklin man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a woman early Wednesday morning.

According to court documents, Franklin City Police filed criminal charges against 37-year-old Antonya Jerome Campbell, of Franklin.

According to the criminal complaint, around 6:30 a.m. on February 7, officers were dispatched for a report of a man who had broken into a residence and assaulted a woman on the 500 block of Grant Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, the female victim said Antonya Campbell entered the residence through the front door without permission. Campbell then allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom and assaulted her, striking her several times in the chest with his fists before throwing her on the ground. Once the victim was on the ground, Campbell allegedly kicked her several times in the chest and the back with the steel boots he was wearing. Campbell then fled the scene, according to the complaint.

The victim stated that while he was assaulting her, he told her that he was going to kill her. She told police that he had also sent her text messages stating the same, the complaint states.

Officers were able to follow the footprints that Campbell left in the snow. They observed that Campbell was running from the scene, due to the long strides, and that he entered a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Norman Street. Campbell then drove the vehicle from the scene heading east on Grant Street.

Campbell was arraigned at 10:51 a.m. on February 8 in Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office on the following charges:

– Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Bodily Injury Crime, Felony 1
– Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Flight To Avoid Apprehension/Trial/Punishment, Felony 3
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Terroristic Threats W/ Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Unable to post $50,000.00 cash bail, Campbell was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on February 14 with Judge Kirtland presiding.
