Franklin Man Accused of Threatening Another Man, Stealing Construction Tools

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly stole another man’s drywall mudding knives and threatened him.

Court documents indicate the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 34-year-old James (Jr) Raymond Johnson, of Franklin.

According to a criminal complaint, a known victim reported that he and James Johnson had an agreement for construction work. The victim reported Johnson did “a horrible job” for the work he was paid to do, and the victim then ended up having drywall mudding knives taken from the worksite.

The complaint notes the victim showed Lieutenant Ashbaugh, of the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department, text messages where Johnson made statements saying the next time he saw the victim, it was “hands up.”

Other text messages stated the following:

“Hope ur at the house u piece of sh**, I def got something for u”
“You know how us bikers do”
“…it could be in the middle of the store, walking down the street, or even at a red light It’ll happen no worries”

Other messages indicated Johnson had possession of the victim’s drywall knives and that “he wasn’t returning them because he threw them out due to the disrespect (the victim) showed him,” according to the complaint.

Johnson was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 10:07 a.m. on Friday, September 13, on the following charges:

– Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3
– Disorderly Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3

Johnson remains free on $2,500.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, in Venango County Central Court with Judge Lowrey presiding.
