Franklin Man Accused of Using Employer’s Account for Personal Purchases

CANAL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man is facing a third-degree felony charge after he allegedly used his employer’s account to make unauthorized personal purchases.

Court documents indicate the Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against 33-year-old Gary Lee Hawke, of Franklin.

According to a criminal complaint, on March 22, 2018, Gary Hawke allegedly used an account linked to a known Utica business to attempt to make two purchases from Straight Talk and Horizon Card Services, totaling $79.98. Hawke was an employee of the company at the time the incident occurred.

The complaint notes that the owner of the company had not authorized Hawke to use the account for personal purchases.

Based on the investigation, Hawke was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 10:05 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, on the following charge:

– Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, Felony 3

Hawke is free on $1,500.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, with Judge Kirtland presiding.
