FRANKLIN, Pa., (EYT) — A Franklin man was arrested after police were dispatched to the area of McDonald’s late Monday evening for a report of a man chasing a woman.

Venango County 9-1-1 dispatched Franklin Police officers around 11:56 p.m. on April 9 to the area of McDonald’s for a woman running down Otter Street with a man chasing her.

Once on the scene, Patrolman Barnes recognized the man as 24-year-old Marcus Wylie, of Franklin, and the victim — a known woman reported to be Wylie’s live-in girlfriend — from multiple previous incidents.

According to a criminal complaint, Wylie and the victim were involved in an argument in which the victim accused Wylie of choking her. The individuals were separated, and Wylie was detained. During this time, he made multiple, unsolicited statements in which he admitted to grabbing the victim by the throat after trying to kick in the door to the room they shared.

An on-scene interview was conducted with the victim. She stated that after an argument, she had locked Wylie out of the room they shared. She stated that Wylie tried to kick the door in and threatened her if she did not open the door. When she did open it, he grabbed her by the throat and choked her to a degree where she could not breathe. When a mutual friend intervened, the victim stated that Wylie stopped choking her, at which time she ran from the building in fear, and Wylie chased her until police arrived, the complaint states.

Wylie was arraigned at 2:30 p.m. on April 10 in the office of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland on the following charges:

– Strangulation — Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1

Unable to post $45,000.00 monetary bail, Wylie was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 18 at 8:30 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland.
