Franklin Man Crashes Vehicle into Bridge in Utica

UTICA, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police responded to an accident on Railroad Street in Utica Borough, Venango County.

Police say the crash occurred at 6:00 p.m. on October 5, 2015 as 24-year-old David A. Simpson, of Franklin, was traveling north on Railroad Street.

Simpson was allegedly traveling at a speed greater than reasonable, according to police.

Police say Simpson’s 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee went across the south-bound lane and struck the concrete wall of the bridge with the left front of the vehicle.

After striking the concrete wall, Simpson’s vehicle continued across the bridge and crossed railroad tracks and struck a railroad signal pole.

Police say Simpson was cited for several traffic violations.

Simpson was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.

Police were assisted by Utica Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance and Leonard’s Towing.
