Franklin Man Fails to Return to Jail After Work Release, Faces Escape Charge

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man is facing a felony escape charge after he allegedly failed to return to the Venango County Jail from his work release program.

Court documents indicate the Franklin Police Department filed criminal charges against 30-year-old Alek Joseph Tarr, of Franklin.

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:15 p.m. on Friday, August 31, Lieutenant Edwards, of the Franklin Police Department, was advised by Lieutenant McCall, of the Venango County Jail, that inmate Alek Tarr failed to return from the work release program and report back to the jail by 4:30 p.m. that day.

According to the complaint, after numerous attempts to locate Tarr were unsuccessful, Lieutenant Edwards requested that a warrant be issued.

Tarr was arrested and then arraigned at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on a third-degree felony count of escape.

His bail for this case was set at $25,000.00 monetary.

He remains lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, with Judge Fish presiding.
