FRANKLIN TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man is facing multiple charges after being stopped for an expired registration in Sugarcreek Borough.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Sugarcreek Borough-based State Police, Justin Robert Steetle, 30, of Franklin, was stopped around 3:52 a.m. on March 11 for an expired registration. Arresting officer, Lieutenant Baker, became suspicious when he noticed that Steetle was sweating profusely, even though it was only 28 degrees outside.

Lieutenant Baker suspected Steetle “was under the influence of narcotics and asked him to step out of his vehicle,” the complaint states.

Steetle failed standardized field sobriety tests and allegedly tried to run away when the officer attempted to handcuff him. After a brief struggle, Steetle was handcuffed and taken to the police station where he refused to take a blood test, according to the complaint.

A search warrant for the blood test was issued.

Steetle was arraigned around 4:00 a.m. on March 11, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on the following charges:

– Resisting Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
– DUI: Controlled Substance-Impaired Ability, Misdemeanor
– Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary
– Driving Unregistered Vehicle, Summary
– Driving Without A License, Summary

Unable to post $10,000.00 cash bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 21 at 1:30 p.m. with Judge Fish presiding.
