Franklin Man Seriously Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on Route 428

OAKLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Franklin man was seriously injured in a suspected DUI crash on State Route 428 on Sunday.

According to Franklin-based State Police, the accident happened around 8:19 a.m. on November 22, on State Route 428 at its intersection with State Route 417, in Oakland Township, Venango County.

Police say 25-year-old David K. Hines, of Franklin, was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, traveling north on State Route 428 when he failed to stop at the stop sign at its intersection with State Route 417. The vehicle traveled across both lanes of Route 417 and struck a dirt embankment off the west side of the roadway.

He suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance Service.

It is unknown whether Hines was using a seat belt.

According to police, the crash remains under investigation.
