CLARION CO., Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin mother and son are facing felony charges for allegedly stealing a wallet and attempting to use the victim’s debit card.

According to court documents, criminal charges were filed against 48-year-old Tricia Mae Bunnell and 25-year-old Terry L. McMunn, both of Franklin.

According to a criminal complaint, State Police Trooper Manno spoke with the victim at PSP Clarion barracks around 3:30 p.m. on November 15.

The woman stated that she was at a medical facility that morning and purchased coffee and then waited for her ride. Afterwards, she went shopping and discovered that her wallet was missing. She contacted her bank right away and canceled her debit card. Around 1:00 p.m. she received a call from a woman identifying herself as Tricia Sims. Sims told her that a woman walked up to her at a gas station and handed her a wallet and said that she had dropped it. Sims said there was no money or credit cards in it. The woman asked Sims to return it to PSP Franklin. At one point in the conversation with the victim, Sims stated that she drove a Jeep, according to the complaint.

The victim discovered the following activities were on her debit card:

– An attempt for a withdrawal of $500.00 on 11/15/17 at 11:46 a.m. at Country Fair in Shippenville, which was denied. A balance inquiry was also performed.

– At 12:12 p.m. on November 15 at Red Express in Cranberry, an attempt for a withdrawal of $200.00 was made and denied.

– At 12:19 p.m. on November 15, a balance inquiry was made in Walmart in Cranberry, and then an attempt to withdraw $800.00 from the account was also made at Cranberry Walmart, which was denied.

Video surveillance at Country Fair, Red Express, and Walmart revealed the same man, woman, and Jeep Cherokee during the above-mentioned time periods.

Officer Manno also observed video surveillance at Kwik Fill in Franklin. The identical Jeep Cherokee as in the previous videos was seen; however, no one was observed exiting the Jeep, as the station is a full-service station.

Officer Manno then visited the Clarion medical facility, talked to an employee, and showed her a photo taken from the video surveillance from Country Fair; she identified the man as Terry McMunn.

Additionally, video surveillance at the medical facility revealed the man (Terry McMunn) and woman from the Country Fair video at the facility at the same time as the victim.

Officer Manno also learned that McMunn resided at 510 Atlantic Avenue, Franklin, which was the same address of the woman (Tricia Sims) who returned the wallet and that Tricia Sims and Tricia Bunnell were the same person and the person in the videos.

Officer Manno interviewed McMunn and Bunnell at their residence in Franklin. It was discovered that they were mother and son.

They both denied stealing the wallet from the medical facility. Although they denied stealing $102.00 from the victim’s wallet, McMunn eventually admitted that he took $1.00 from the wallet.

They both said they were at the Kwik Fill, and an elderly woman approached them and handed them the wallet saying it fell from their vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, McMunn and Bunnell were arraigned at 6:45 p.m. on December 20 on the following charges:

– Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, Felony 3 (two counts)
– Conspiracy — Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, Felony 3 (two counts)

McMunn also faces an additional first-degree misdemeanor charge of Criminal Attempt — Theft By Deception-False Impression.

On December 20, McMunn and Bunnell were lodged in the Clarion County Jail on $10,000.00 monetary bail. On January 3, bail was decreased to $5,000.00 monetary for each individual and posted by a professional bondsman.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on February 6 in front of Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn.
