DUBOIS, Pa. (EYT) – Looking for its second win of the year, Franklin will shoot across I-80 Friday night to DuBois to take on the two-win Beavers.

The Knights (1-6 overall, 1-3 District 10, Region 5) is coming off a 77-14 loss to Meadville, while DuBois (2-5, 2-3) fell, 42-0, to Grove City last week. Both teams have wins over Oil City with the Knights taking out their rival 44-38 and DuBois topping the Oilers 38-19.

Franklin hopes to find a run game this week after ending in negative yards because of sacks the last two weeks including a negative 30-yard effort in the loss to Meadville. The Knights have just 401 yards rushing through seven weeks.

The lack of a run game puts a lot of pressure on quarterback Ian Haynes, who has thrown for 1,693 yards and 13 touchdowns but has also tossed 12 interceptions.

Brandon Johnson (39 catches, 696 yards, 6 TDs) and Dalton Buckley (30 catches, 491 yards, 4 TDs) have been the main targets for Haynes.

Quarterback Matt Miller (93-192, 1,226 yards, 10 TDs, 7 Ints), running back Dalton Kruzelak (68-399, 5 TDs), and receiver Kyle Hopson (44-674, 6 TDs) lead the way for DuBois.

Hopson, with 182 career catches and 2,926 receiving yards, looks to become what’s believed to be District 9’s second 3,000-yard career receiver. Port Allegany’s Tyce Miller finished with 177 career receptions for 3,065 yards in 2012.

OIL CITY FACES TALL TASK IN MEADVILLE

Coming off a tough 60-58 five-overtime loss to Conneaut (Pa.) last week things don’t get any easier for Oil City this week when it has to travel to Meadville.

The Oilers are 2-5 overall and 0-4 in District 10, Region 5 play while Meadville is 5-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Oil City has a new-found passing game that has seen quarterback Dylin Chapin throw a career-best four touchdowns in each of the past two weeks after tossing just three in the first five weeks of the year.

Chapin is 47 of 95 on the year for 880 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions and has also run for a touchdown.

Christian Cole, coming off a five-touchdown game (four rushing, 1 receiving) against Conneaut, is having a fantastic season having rushed for 1,171 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching four passes for 51 yards and a score.

Hunter Haun, who had a pair of touchdown catches last week, leads the Oilers receivers with 18 catches for 372 yards and six touchdowns. Caden Highfield adds 12 catches for 229 yards and two scores.

Meadville remains a ground-and-pound team as evidenced by the Bulldogs 565 yards on the ground in the win over Franklin last week led by 231 on 14 carries from Isaiah Manning.

Manning leads Meadville with 1,443 yards and 20 rushing touchdowns, while Julius Ream adds 460 yards rushing and nine TDs, and De’Shawn Wofford 437 yards on the ground with five scores.

Meadville has thrown for just 249 yards on the season attempting only 27 passes through seven games.

UNION/A-C VALLEY NEEDS TO FIND A WAY TO SLOW DOWN BROOKVILLE ATTACK

Union/A-C Valley (1-6) has its hands full this week against Brookville’s full-court press offense that has helped the Raiders to a 6-1 record while seeing them score 50 or more points five times – quite the feat considering the Raiders did that just six times in their entire history until this season.

For Brookville, freshman quarterback Jack Krug (114-173, 1,777 yards, 27 TDs, 7 Ints) is right behind C-L’s Brenden Makray in passing yardage with most of it going to his 1,000-yard receiver in junior Bryan Dworek (58-1,007, 15 TDs).

Union/ACV, which lost 18-8 to a Moniteau team that the Raiders just beat 64-28, has quarterback Lucas Bowser (77-171, 953 yards, 10 TDs, 7 Ints) ready to go over 1,000 yards. Greg Duncan (121-566, 2 TDs) leads the team in rushing.

KEYSTONE HAS KEY GAME WITH PUNXSUTAWNEY

Keystone (3-3) is looking to keep the momentum going after a win over St. Marys last week, while Punxsutawney (3-4) aims to climb back to .500 after beating Union/A-C Valley a week ago when the two meet up in Knox.

Punxsutawney quarterback Dylan Ishman (70-146, 1,069 yards, 15 TDs, 2 Ints) sports an impressive TD-Interception ratio, and he’s second on the team rushing with 214 yards with Stone Smith (80-249) the leading ground-gainer. Tyler Richardson (39-710, 9 TDs) is Ishman’s top receiving target.

Keystone beat St. Marys, 34-28, and the Dutch lost 23-6 to the Chucks two weeks ago. Panthers quarterback Nate Wingard (58-112, 925 yards, 12 TDs, 5 Ints) is close to 1,000 yards passing for the year, while Corey Rapp is the team’s top rusher (57-307, 5 TDs), receiver (27-449, 7 TDs), and tackler on defense (8.2 per game) with a team-high three interceptions.
