Franklin on Ice Continues with DiMartino Ice Carvers, Magic Shows, Chili Cook-Off

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – DiMartino Ice Professional Carvers will begin transforming lifeless blocks of ice into beautiful works of art starting at 10:00 a.m. today in Fountain Park.

Franklin on Ice kicked off yesterday with the beginning of the indoor sidewalk sales and the Nature Art Showcase Reception at the Barrow-Civic Theatre, but today is the start of the main event. The DiMartino Ice Professional Carvers will be entertaining until 2:30 p.m. Spectators should bring cameras for photo ops. A 30-minute timed competition will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. where spectators can vote for their favorite ice carving.

Chili lovers can vote for their favorite at the Chili Cook-Off which will take place at 1255 Liberty Street from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. today. Area restaurants, delis, caterers, and cooks will vie for the 1st place ribbon.

The Franklin Fine Arts Council will sponsor Magic Shows at DeBence Antique Music World location at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. DeBence will also offer special $5.00 tours. The Franklin Public Library will host a Love Your Library with lots of fun activities for children, and Hatched will offer “Kids Winter Crafts” from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Later this evening, you can enjoy a great meal at one of the popular downtown restaurants and travel through the beautifully lit sculptures in Fountain Park.

Public Restrooms are available at the Franklin Chamber, the Barrow-Civic Theatre, and First United Presbyterian Church.
