Franklin Softball Hands Cranberry First Loss; Knights Baseball Also Wins Saturday

FRANKLIN, Pa. (D9Sports) — Franklin was outhit by visiting Cranberry 11-3, but the Lady Knights won where it mattered the most, on the scoreboard, handing the visiting Berries their first loss of the season. 4-3.

Winning pitcher Gracie Stryffeler helped herself with a double and a run scored while going 1-for-3, while Christa Rose Hawke was also 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored and Kaycee Sweeney was 1-for-3. Lexie Herdle was hit by a pair of pitches and scored twice as well.

Maddie Cornelius, Malliah Schreck and Kaylee Bruce each had a pair of hits for Cranberry with Cornelius scoring twice and Bruce adding a run scored. Libby Kiefer added a double.

Andrea Watson took the loss allowing the four runs on three hits, a walk and three hit batters. She struck out 10.

BASEBALL: FRANKLIN 5, LAKEVIEW 1

FRANKLIN, Pa. — Connor Rakow and Kaden Keely combined to three-hit visiting Lakeview, as Franklin claimed a 5-1 win over the Sailors Saturday afternoon.

Rakow went six strong innings allowing a run on three hits and a walk while striking out six to get the win. Keely then pitched a scoreless inning walking one and striking out one.

Zach Baughman had a double and an RBI to help pace an eight-hit Franklin offensive attack. Rakow added an RBI and a run scored to help his own cause with Keely also chipping in an RBI and Brendon Gordon, Noah Turk and Zach Taylor all scoring runs as well.
