FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin Police Department, a retail theft occurred on March 21 at a grocery store on Buffalo Street, in Franklin, Venango County.

Around 3:24 p.m. on March 21, Franklin Police Officers were dispatched to Shop-N-Save in Franklin for a report of a shoplifter.

Police say that after further investigation, it was determined that the suspect — 58-year-old Roxlyn Sue Morford-Penker, of Franklin — “had attempted to leave the establishment with over $30.00 of merchandise and did not intend to pay for them.”

It was determined this was not her first offense, according to police.

She was arraigned at 6:00 p.m. on March 21 in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey on a second-degree misdemeanor charge of Retail Theft-Take Merchandise.

Morford-Penker is free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on March 29 in Venango County Central Court.
