FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Police say a Franklin woman allegedly stole cash from her employer.

According to court documents, the Franklin Police Department filed criminal charges against 45-year-old Brandi Lee Hawke, of Franklin, in Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland, on April 10.

The charges stem from an investigation initiated by a Buffalo Street, Franklin grocery store.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:58 a.m. on April 9, Patrolman Brownlee, of the Franklin Police Department, was dispatched to a grocery store on Buffalo Street to investigate a possible employee theft that occurred on April 7.

Upon arrival at the market, Patrolman Brownlee met with the manager and the owner of the business.

A copy of the electronic log of all transactions that occurred on April 7 was reviewed. There was $70.00 missing, and there were no sales transactions or receipts to account for the missing money.

Patrolman Brownlee reviewed video surveillance of the date the theft occurred. He observed “Brandi Hawke take cash from the register and then put it inside her wallet,” according to the complaint.

Based on the investigation, a second-degree misdemeanor charge of Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property was filed against Hawke on Wednesday, April 10.

Court documents indicate a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 15 in front of Judge Kirtland.

A certified summons was issued on April 11.
