FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin woman is behind bars following a string of incidents, including altercations in which she allegedly threw a knife at a victim and threatened him with a handgun.

It is alleged that she also started driving away while the victim was attempting to unbuckle a child safety seat.

Court documents indicate the Franklin Police Department filed the following criminal charges against 25-year-old Carly Ann Lawson, of Franklin:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Terroristic Threats With Intent to Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Tuesday, May 28.

According to a criminal complaint, the incidents began on May 28 when a known victim stated he needed to use the restroom and Carly Ann Lawson stated she needed a shower and then began slapping and punching the victim’s arms and shoulders and then grabbed the victim’s neck, choking him to the point he felt discomforting pressure.

Later in the night, a verbal altercation allegedly began over a text message involving methamphetamine, the victim stepped outside, and upon re-entry to the residence, he found the doors were locked behind him.

According to the complaint, Lawson then went into the kitchen, obtained a knife, and presented it to the victim’s chest. The victim then stated he was leaving, turned, and walked away, but as he got to the stairs, Lawson threw the knife directly at his back.

The complaint notes another verbal argument began on June 1 in regard to custody of a known juvenile. Lawson allegedly believed the victim was keeping the juvenile from her and stated she was going to shoot the victim “in the face” and presented a .38 caliber handgun.

Another altercation allegedly occurred on June 6 when Lawson requested to see the juvenile who was sleeping.

According to the complaint, after being told it was too late, and she was asked to come back in the morning, Lawson stated she would come to the residence and “shoot everyone.”

Yet another incident was reported on June 9, when Lawson and the victim were exchanging custody of the juvenile. The victim was in the rear passenger doorway of a car, unbuckling the car seat, when Lawson allegedly started to drive.

According to the complaint, the victim yelled for Lawson to stop, and she did. Then, while the victim was grabbing a diaper bag, Lawson stated: “Be ready, I’m grabbing the gun, and I’ll be back.”

Based on the investigation, Lawson was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 4:25 p.m. on Monday, June 10.

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, in Venango County Central Court.
