SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — A 24-year-old woman who was arrested on a warrant for methamphetamine possession allegedly smuggled Heroin into the Clarion County Jail.

According to online court documents, criminal charges were filed against 24-year-old Megan Renee Reed, of Franklin.

According to a criminal complaint, on September 25, 2016, Megan Renee Reed was booked into the Clarion County Jail as a result of an outstanding warrant. She was housed in F Block of the facility.

The complaint states that while doing a headcount around 10:00 p.m. on September 26, a correction officer was informed by several female inmates in F Block that inmate Reed had brought Heroin into the jail when she was booked.

It is alleged that Reed and two other inmates had all snorted the Heroin. At that time, corrections officers searched the suspects’ cells. During the search, the suspects were kept in the day room.

While searching one of the suspect’s cell, one empty stamp bag was found under her bed mat.

While sitting in the day room, “it was discovered that Reed had stamp bags of Heroin on her person. Three stamp bags were confiscated at that time.”

Reed allegedly admitted to corrections officers that she had smuggled the Heroin into the facility when she was brought in on the bench warrant, according to the complaint.

Around 10:12 p.m. on September 28, police interviewed Reed at the Clarion County Jail.

Prior to being incarcerated, Butler State Police initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 79 on a known man. Reed was a passenger in his vehicle.

During this stop, it was discovered there was an active warrant for Reed’s arrest, and she was taken into custody by PSP Butler. PSP Butler relayed her back to PSP Clarion, and they brought her into the Clarion County Jail.

Reed advised that “she had five stamp bags of heroin on her when they stopped the car on Interstate 79. She related that she put the five stamp bags of heroin in her vagina when they were getting pulled over. She never took them out until she was in her cell here at the jail. She never told anyone she had the heroin until they discovered her with it,” the complaint states.

Reed advised that she gave two stamp bags to two known inmates at Clarion County Jail. She said that “she had shot up with heroin right before they were stopped and did not use any of the stamp bags when she got here,” the complaint continues.

According to the complaint, “a known inmate advised police that Reed gave her three stamp bags total. She gave her one on Sunday and two on Monday. She related that she snorted all three bags.”

The two known inmates who Reed gave stamp bags to submitted to a urinalysis and one suspect’s report came back positive for opioids. The other’s test came back as negative, the complaint indicates.
