FRANKLIN, Pa. — The 31st Annual Applefest begins in Franklin the first weekend in October.

Things will kick off with the 6th Annual Pink Splash for the Cure at Fountain Park on October 1.

Along with other early festivities are a used book sale, sidewalk sales, face painting, and an American Civil War Encampment.

There will be Arts & Crafts, an Antique & Classic Car Show, a 5K Race for Any Pace, Kids’ Korner, Farmers’ Market, Free Entertainment, and lots of food during the Applefest weekend.

Some other events include an apple pie eating contest, the 3rd annual Applefest Comedy Show, and an apple pancake breakfast.

The Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce says their goal is “to have you fall in love with everything we have to offer, all of our special events, and a quality of life that makes you want to spend a lifetime, or return to visit throughout the year for our many events, outdoor recreation, theatre and the arts.”

Johnny Appleseed is even lined up to make an appearance walking through Applefest from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
