FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The issue with Franklin’s traffic signal was discussed at Franklin Council’s monthly meeting on Monday night.

Franklin City Manager Tracy Jamieson reported that the city should receive a $78,237.00 grant to fix a mid-block traffic signal that fell over in 2016, but that the project could still take awhile.

In order to facilitate the replacement project, the council approved the hiring of EADS Group out of Clarion at a cost not to exceed $11,500.00 to do the engineering on the project.

Governor Tom Wolf announced on Monday, February 26, that Franklin was receiving state funding through the PA Department of Transportation Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) program for the traffic signal structure at an intersection midway between Liberty Street at the cross streets of 12th and 13th.

“I don’t know enough about this sort of thing to do it myself,” Jamieson explained.

There is no timetable for the completion of the project.

“It usually takes time to order the poles with about a four-month wait,” Jamieson said. “But I am not sure when we can give the order to order the poles. I don’t want to do anything until all of the PennDOT approvals are in.”
