Freda I. McCauley, 85, of Stoneboro, PA, formerly of the Parker area, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 24, 2018, at Grove City Medical Center following a brief illness.

“Mom was a beautiful and kind person in spirit, soul, and heart. Her entire family will miss her dearly. She would often say she was so Blessed and would give thanks to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We know she is in a better place. Good bye Mom, for now, and we will see you again. With so much Love from your entire family.”

Born in St. Petersburg, PA, on December 1, 1932, she was daughter of late George Henry and Mary Elizabeth Boyer Butcher. She was married to LaVerne Alfred McCauley on Sept. 2, 1948, who then passed away Oct. 11, 2004.

Freda was employed over the years as a waitress at the Parker House Hotel, the former Hecker’s Restaurant, and the VFW in Clarion.

She was the first lady member of the former Parker Rotary, a Life Member of the Allegheny Sportsmens’ Club at Parker, and was a member over twenty-five years at the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion at Foxburg.

A Christian by faith, she was a member of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church in Franklin.

Surviving are one daughter, with whom she made her home: Naomi (Rockne) Barber of Stoneboro; three sons: LaVerne A. McCauley, Jr. of Polk, Daniel (Glenda Cheryl) McCauley of Tucson, AZ, and Henry (Lauren) McCauley of Franklin; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, at Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church in Franklin, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.

Private burial at the St. Petersburg Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service.
