Freda DitzFreda M. Ditz, 80, of Fryburg passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

Born on May 18, 1936, in Shippenville, she was the daughter of Elmer A. and Dora McCool Rex.

She was a 1954 graduate of Shippenville High School.

On June 18, 1955 she was married to William A. Ditz who survives.

She was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg, as well as the Rosary Society and the Church Choir.

In the 1970’s and 1980’s Freda worked as a clerk for Schupp’s General Store in Fryburg. She enjoyed spending time with her family, raising her three children and helping raise her grandchildren. Freda also enjoyed playing Euchre, Bingo, and doing many crafts.

Freda is survived by her husband William and their children William D. Ditz and his wife Kimberly of Lewis Run, Diane M. Lutz and her husband Ray of Lucinda, and Carol A. Lander of Fryburg.

Grandchildren surviving include: Melissa Bann and her husband Ryan, Alicia Lutz, Katie Lutz, Andrew Lutz, Sara Lander, Rebecca Lander, David Ditz, and Joseph Ditz. Also surviving are two great-granddaughters Madison and Morgan Bann.

She is survived by a brother Emery Rex (Deanna), brothers-in-law Paul Ditz (Mary), James Ditz; and sisters-in-law Margaret Zacherl, Faye Rex and Janet Rex. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant children, siblings Wayne Rex, Willis Rex, and June Knight.

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Thursday, March 9, 2017, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, March 10, 2017 at St. Michael Church in Fryburg, with Rev. David Poulson, Pastor of St. Anthony’s Church in Cambridge Springs, presiding.

Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Freda’s honor may be made to St. Michael Organ Fund in Fryburg or Venango Catholic High School in Oil City.
