Friday’s Baseball Roundup: Curran Continues to Rake as Rocky Grove Tops Wilmington

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (EYT) – Conner Curran went 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs to help visiting Rocky Grove to a 12-3 win over Wilmington.

The unbeaten Orioles (4-0), the two-time defending District 10 champions, also got a double and three RBIs from Tyler Knupp, a double and a single from Scott Perry and a double and an RBI from Travis Perry in the victory.

Travis Perry was again all but unhittable on the mound. The Youngstown State recruit went five innings allowing an unearned run on two hits and four walks while striking out 10.

CLARION 12, CRANBERRY 2, 5 INNINGS

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. – Behind three RBIs from Skylar Rhoades Clarion knocked off visiting Cranberry, 12-2, in five innings at the Clarion County Park.

Rhoades went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for the Bobcats, while Cam Craig and Sterling Conner each added a pair of hits.

Craig was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored with Conner going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Spencer Miller chipped in a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs scored.

Craig to the win going five innings allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three.

Shay Harry had a double and a run scored for Cranberry with Brandon Forrest also scoring. Trevor Gladin and Thomas Flinspach had RBIs.

UNION 11, FOREST AREA 1, 6 INNINGS

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Luke Salvo drove in five runs to lead Union to an 11-1, six-inning win over visiting Forest Area.

Salvo was 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored to lead the Golden Knights.

Luke Bowser added a home run while going 1-for-3 with two runs scored for Union with Isaac Yoder finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Reice Saylor 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored and Clayton Marsh 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Saylor got the win going five innings allowing an unearned run on one hit and no walks while striking out nine. Yoder threw an inning of scoreless, hitless, walkless relief.

Dominic Grubbs had the lone hit for Forest Area with Dillon DiCorpo scoring the Fires run.

Noah Burke took the loss allowing five runs, all earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out five in four innings of work. Bobby Dittman went 1 ⅔ innings allowing six runs, four earned, on five hit and a walk while striking out one.
