Fryburg Mayfest 5K to Be Held in Memory of Colleen Faller

FRYBURG, Pa. (EYT) — The 8th Annual Fryburg Mayfest 5K Fun Run/Walk is slated for Friday, May 26, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. This year’s race is being held in memory of Colleen Faller, and all proceeds will go to the Washington Township Community Association Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The race will start at Saint Michael’s Church along State Route 208 in Fryburg. It takes place on an all black top course that runs through the rolling hills of Fryburg and Marble.

The Fryburg Mayfest 5K Fun Run/Walk is quoted as being “one of the toughest races, but one of the most fun,” with local families cheering runners every step of the way.

About Colleen Faller

Colleen Faller, 41, passed away August 29, 2016, following a six-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. She was born on June 14, 1975, to Jean Madden and the late Thomas McCormick. On July 2, 2005, she married the love of her life, Evan Faller. They have two beautiful daughters, Avery Rose and Rowan Kathleen.

Colleen cherished time with her family and loved nothing more than cooking a hearty meal, playing a game of cards and going for a boat ride. She lived a life of fierce determination, boundless love, and abundant faith. Colleen had strong, lifelong friendships with many, who also served as her “prayer warriors” during her illness. She had a talent for mimicry and a quick wit, good-natured spirit.

About the Race

The Fryburg Mayfest 5K Fun Run/Walk starts at St. Michael’s Church along Route 208 in Fryburg and continues through Marble to Marble Road behind Montana’s Country Cafe. The route then continues on a secondary road and eventually travels back to the church.

Participants will continue up to the old Fryburg Road, turning left, past the Fryburg Car Wash and then they will turn around (at a water station) and travel the same route back to the finish line at the entrance to the church parking lot on the left of the highway.

Smiley Miles is the timer for this year’s race.

For the safety of participants, a portion of State Route 208 will be closed. Traffic will be detoured via Marble-Strobleton Road and Eisenman Hill Road.
