OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – A fundraiser has been organized for the family of an Oil City man who was killed in a Sunday afternoon crash on State Route 157 in Cranberry Township.

A GoFundMe memorial fundraiser was created for the family of 42-year-old Charles (Chuck) Jarzenski, of Oil City, who died in a crash on Sunday afternoon.

Jarzenski was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt west on Route 157 around 4:17 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the car, and it struck a utility pole on the south side of Route 157, south of Old Kahle Road, at 358 Route 157, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Jarzenski’s car continued west on the south side of the roadway coming to a final rest approximately 111 feet from the initial impact with the utility pole. At some point during the crash, Jarzenski was ejected from the vehicle and was found deceased upon arrival.

According to the fundraiser page, which was created by Sarah Jarzenski, the deceased’s sister, Chuck leaves six children and a wife behind.

“He was an amazing father, husband, brother, and friend. He always did his best to help others before he helped himself. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a life insurance policy so I started the GoFundMe to help my sister-in-law cover the expense of covering his funeral cost,” Sarah Jarzenski told

“I don’t want her (Jarzenski’s wife) to have to go do that alone, she’s already going through enough of losing her husband in such a tragic way. This isn’t something she needs to worry about figuring out how to pay for these expenses plus be able to pay her bills by herself now.”

The fundraiser is seeking to raise $3,000.00 to help pay for Jarzenski’s funeral.

“If you aren’t able to donate, that’s fine. Your prayers for our family during this tragic time are greatly appreciated,” the fundraiser page stated.
