Gannon’s Brunelli Picks Up 100th Win as School’s Women’s Hoops Coach against Alma Mater Clarion

ERIE, Pa. (EYT) – Clarion grad Jim Brunelli picked up his 100th win as the Gannon women’s basketball head coach against his alma mater Monday, as the Lady Knights topped Clarion, 62-53.

The Golden Eagles led 23-22 at halftime before Gannon rallied after the break for the win.

Chelsea Rourke led Gannon with 17 points with Nicole LaCava adding 15. North Clarion grad Tori Obenrader chipped in seven points and four rebounds.

Kadijah Dickson posted her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and pulling down a game-high 12 boards for Clarion. Yndiah Bobo tied for game-high honors with 17 points for the Golden Eagles with Venango Catholic grad Taylor Moltz adding six points and four rebounds and Karns City grad Emily Hegedus scoring two points.

CLARION MEN NO MATCH FOR GANNON

ERIE, Pa. – Gannon’s Daryl Porter dropped a game-high 23 points as the Golden Knights rolled to a home victory over the Clarion Golden Eagles on Monday afternoon, 66-48.

Clarion drops to 4-10, 2-8 in PSAC play on the season while Gannon improves to 7-10 and 5-6 in the PSAC.

The hot shooting Golden Knights were in control from the start, building a lead as large as 17 points before heading into the half with a commanding 30-14 lead behind Porter’s eight, first-half points.

Clarion’s bench outscored Gannon’s 15-11 on the afternoon while shooting 52% from the floor in the second half, however turnovers plagued the Golden Eagles all afternoon and they just could not slow the Golden Knight attack. Gannon shot 48 percent (27 of 56) from the floor on the day, including a whopping 57% (16 of 28) in the second half.

The Golden Eagles were led by steady junior forward Jonathan Williams, who had a team-high 19 points and three rebounds while shooting 75 percent from beyond the arc in 30 minutes of work. Elijah Cottrill and Khari Williams each added seven points while guard Javontay Pipkin pulled down six boards for Clarion.
