Genevieve I. “Midge” Confer, 81, formerly of West Kane and Central Towers in Kane, died Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017 at The Lutheran Home at Kane.

Born August 8, 1935 in Muzette, Forest County, she was the daughter Lias W. and Gertrude A. Finlaw Irwin. On May 27, 1955 in Mt. Jewett, she married Craig M. “Skip” Confer, who died in 2001.

Midge was a bartender at the VFW in Kane for over 20 years, and was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she held several offices.

Surviving are three sons, Claude Confer of Kane, James (Kate) Confer of Ludlow and Eric (Joy) Confer of Kane; a daughter, Darlene Confer of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters, Ruth Baker of Franklin and Peg Hoover of Lucinda; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by six brothers and four sisters.

As per her wishes, there will be no public service.

Memorial contributions may be made to a church or charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are in the care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., in Kane.
