Pollnow, George Obit PictureGeorge Alfred Pollnow, age 80, of Marienville, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at his home on S. Forest Street.

George was born to the late Herman Edward and Sarah Ann (Mitchell) Pollnow on March 3, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA.

On June 25, 1955, he married Arlene Esther (Engle) Pollnow, in Philadelphia; she precedes him in death.

For over 35 years he worked in General Accident Insurance. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp, and was active for 12 years. George was a regular participant in the Marienville Minstrel. He was a member of the Marienville Lions Club and served as King Lion twice. He was commander of the Marienville VFW and President of the Marienville Senior Citizens Community Center.

He worshipped as an active member of the Marienville United Methodist Church. He had participated in the
Philadelphia Mummers Parade and served as president for the Merry Makers Fancy Division. He loved watching classic movies and football.

George is survived by 4 daughters; Isabelle (Floyd) Williamson of Temple Hills, MD; Shirley (Park) Crispin
of Marienville, PA; Helen (Robert) Bohlen of Marienville, PA; Charlene (Oscar) Bolanos of Mt. Laurel, NJ; 1 sister, Anna Marie (the late John) Fulton of Philadelphia, PA; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers; Herman, William, and Albert Pollnow.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the Marienville United Methodist Church, 201 North Forest Street, Marienville, PA 16239, beginning at 10:00am, with Pastor Daniel G. Richter officiating.

Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, VA, with full military honors, at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825.
