George E. Pennington

George E. Pennington, 86, of Parker, PA., passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.

Born in Parker, PA., on January 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Walter L. and Martha Zoe Master Pennington.

A graduate of the former Bruin High School, George later enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War as an Airman 1st Class. George worked and retired from the former Pullman Standard in Butler as a cutter/piece maker. He was a life member and past commander of the VFW post 7073 in Parker as well as a life member and former steward in the American Legion in Parker. He enjoyed reading western novels and completing jig saw puzzles. Besides being a crack shot with the 22 hornet, he was a talented poetry writer, guitar, violin, and spoon player. He also enjoyed looking out the window and watching the cars go by.

He is survived by his two daughters: Lisa (Zane) Thompson of Parker; and Laura Pennington of Parker. One son: Walter R. (Marcie) Pennington of Parker. One step son Rick Barger of Franklin. One daughter in-law Joyce Pennington of Parker. Two sisters: Twila Best of Eldorado; and Myrna Dunlap of Sligo. Two brothers: Dale (Vivian) Pennington of West Sunbury; and Alan (Deborah) Pennington of North Carolina. Ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Nira Belle Barger and his second wife Bonnie Rae Wike. A son Robert Pennington and an infant still born. One sister Deanna Fross and an infant twin brother and sister.
