5944070fafc95George R. Chandler, 95, formerly of Seneca, PA and a resident of Brooksville, FL died there Friday, June 2, 2017.

He was born May 19, 1922 in Lawsonham, PA (Clarion County) a son of George F. and Jennie I. Brown Chandler. He married Dorothy L. Palmer January 10, 1946 and she preceded him in death August 1, 2013.

He was a graduate of Sligo High School and was a veteran of World War II serving in England Germany and France in the US Army Air Corps. He was a railroader working on the Pennsylvania, Penn Central and retired from Conrail as an engineer. He was a member of the Oil City Masonic Lodge, Zem Zem Shrine and Grotto where he also played bagpipes.

He and his wife enjoyed travel across the US in an RV and also with friends to Great Britain and Europe.

He is survived by four children, Karen Fry and her husband Charles of Cranberry, James Chandler and his wife Vicki of Meadville, Robert Chandler and his wife Ethel of Valrico, FL and Charles Chandler of Seneca; six grandchildren, James Chandler and his wife Shawnda of Apex, NC, Amy Prenatt and her husband Christopher of Meadville, Douglas Fry and his wife Connie of Titusville, Valerie Waid and her husband Robb of Meadville, Shean Chandler of Valrico, FL and Jason Chandler and his wife Stefanie of Plant City, FL; ten great grandchildren; four nieces and a nephew.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Sweitzer and a grandson, Matthew Bond.

The memorial service will be Saturday, June 24th at 3:00 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with the Rev. Darrell Greenawalt, Pastor of Saegertown United Methodist Church, officiating with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.

Interment will be in Squirrel Hill Cemetery, New Bethlehem, PA

The family suggest memorials be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
