George R. Cozad

George R. Cozad, 83, of Franklin, passed away in his home on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

Born on July 21, 1935, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Albert Leo, Sr. and Mabel Violet (Weaver) Cozad.

George worked at Ajax as a Machinist Supervisor until his retirement.

In 1980, he married the former Betty Huffman; she survived him.

In his spare time, George kept himself busy with his hobbies and clubs. He enjoyed woodworking and craft shows at Applefest in Franklin. He was also a long-time member of the rainbow Beagle Club, where he served as Treasurer, and enjoyed the Comradery Club.

George was a compassionate and caring man, which he showed by being a family man. He and his wife fostered children for over 10 years. George also enjoyed the many picnics and holidays he got to spend with his family.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his three sons, Steve Cozad of Corry, Gary Cozad of Arizona, and Tim Cozad of Corry; his two daughters, Denise Jawdy of Corry and Cindy Ailes of Warren; his three step-children, Sandra Hasson of Franklin, Jim Montgomery (Marci) and Tim Montgomery, both of Rocky Grove; his nine grandchildren; his seven step-grandchildren; his seven great-grandchildren; and his nine step-great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his four brothers, Philip Cozad (Ruby) of Cranberry, Michael Cozad (Sandy) of Seneca, William Cozad (Cheryl) of Hermitage, Braden Cozad (Anna Marie) of Franklin; his brother-in-law, Robert Dunkle of Townville; his two sisters, Christine Chittester (James) of Seneca, and Karen Stimpson (Ronald) of Sioux Falls, SD; and his two sister-in-law, Millie Cozad of Franklin and Sandra Cozad of Arizona.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Amanda Cozad; his two brothers, Albert L. Cozad, Jr. and Donald Cozad; his three sisters, Barbara A. Hunsberger, Judith A. Neal, and Rose Mary Dunkle; and his step-son, Ed Montgomery.

In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.

A Memorial Service to celebrate George’s life will be held at the convenience of the family and be announced at a later date.
