GeraldineGeraldine “Jerry” Marguerite (Glas) Burdett, 82, formerly of Hendersonville, Worth Township Stoneboro, passed away peacefully of natural causes with her family by her side at 4:38 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, in St. Paul’s, West Salem Township.

Born Oct. 4, 1934, in Shippenville, Clarion County, she was a daughter of Frank Lloyd and Florence Hattie Montague Glas.

Mrs. Burdett was a graduate of Shippenville High School.

In her early years, she worked at the General Manifold and Printing Co. and the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., both Franklin. Most of all she was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She had been a member of the Lakeview United Methodist Church.

Jerry had many talents, including drawing, painting, ceramics, cross-stitch, knitting and crocheting.

She loved music and was an accomplished musician, playing the organ, piano and banjo. She especially loved to sing, a talent she passed on to her children.

Over the years, she was very active and enjoyed gardening, biking, playing bingo and in general, sharing her time with others as she did at the senior center in Sandy Lake. She also had volunteered for Lakeview Area Meals on Wheels.

Her husband, Charles Lloyd “Burdie” Burdett, whom she married March 17, 1956, preceded her in death Sept. 18, 2007.

Survivors include: a daughter, Debra S. Burdett Schaefer and her husband, David, of New York City; three sons, Michael L. Burdett of Stoneboro; Russell D. Burdett and his wife, Valerie, of Hadley; and Thomas J. Burdett of Sandy Lake; three grandchildren, April Burdett and her companion John Bruno, Kathleen Burdett and her companion Hector Baez-Wilson, and Jessica Hoovler and her husband Greg, all of Butler; a great-granddaughter, Anna Rose Hoovler and a soon-to-be-born great-grandchild due in February; three sisters: Shirley Delo of Oil City; Doris McCauley of Venus; and Marylou McCalmont and her husband, Lee, of Clintonville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Leroy Glas and William Glas.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (12-27-16) in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro, Pa.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday (12-28-16) in the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Earl R. Dykes, pastor, Methodists United in Faith, assisted by the Rev. William G. Kirker, chaplain, St. Paul’s.

Interment: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township, Grove City.
