Gertrude M. Pineau-Hald

Gertrude M. Pineau-Hald, 94, formerly of Oil City, died Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at St. Paul’s Archbishop Leibold Home in Cincinnati of natural causes.

Born November 21, 1924, in Van, PA, she was the daughter of the late James Beichner and Sophia Schoenhofer Beichner.

Gertrude was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was married in St. Joseph Church to William J. Pineau and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1964. In 1980, Gertrude married John L. Hald and he also preceded her in death.

Gert had worked for the Derrick Newspaper, St Joseph’s rectory, Oil City Hospital, Hialeah Hospital in Florida, and ran her own housekeeping business for over 20 years.

While living in Florida she was a member of the Lions Auxiliary and Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church in La Belle. She later moved to Ohio and lived there for several years and was a member of St. Gerard’s Church in Lima. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching NASCAR races.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Pineau Carlson and her husband Tim of Lebanon, OH, and Ruth Pineau Gannon of Loudon, TN; grandchildren, Timothy Carlson, Joanne Goodman, Angela Myers, Brian Gannon, Jennifer Pineau, William Pineau, Matthew Pineau; great-grandchildren, Zachary Carlson and Alexander Carlson. Gertrude is also survived by a brother, Joseph Beichner and his wife Beverly of Knox, a sister, Patricia Farley of Bethel Park, and a sister-in-law, Minnie Beichner of Oil City.

In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph William Pineau, two brothers, James Beichner and Elmo Beichner, and four sisters, Ruth Tidball, Margaret Mary Rateau, Helen “Trink” Schettler-Lee, and Jean A Craig.

Friends will be received Monday from 11:00 a.m. to noon in St. Joseph Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon in St. Jospeh Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
