At the age of 94, Gladys M. (Weckerly) Aaron, passed away in the comfort of her home in Strattanville, PA, on Friday, August 25, 2017.

Gladys was born on February 28, 1923, to Charles and Emma (Stubble) Weckerly on their farm in Callensburg, PA; they preceded her in death.

She was married on October 19, 1946, in Brookville, PA, to Arnold Roy Aaron; Arnold preceded her in death on January 1, 1983.

In addition to her husband and parents, Gladys is preceded in death by her four brothers, Maurice, Lawrence, Lloyd, and Ira, who passed as an infant. Her two sisters, Mabel and Hazel; Hazel was 5 years old.

Gladys was the last surviving member of her family.

She attended a two-room schoolhouse in West Freedom, PA, and she went on to work at the Curtis Wright Plant in Beaver, PA, during World War II.

She had a pleasant nature and she was content through life’s most difficult circumstances.

Even though her sight and hearing were diminished in her later years, which made communication with others difficult, she maintained that she and her Heavenly Father never had any trouble understanding each other; she found comfort in her faith in Him.

Gladys never learned to drive, but took great pride in mowing and caring for her two-acre property until the age of 93.

She is survived by three children; Keith (Alma) Aaron, Karla (Herb) Cottrell, and Greta (Bob) Sawyer; and three grandchildren; Jennifer (Aaron) Berry, Michael Aaron, and Claire Sawyer.

Her family held a graveside service at the Callensburg Cemetery, on Sunday, August 27, 2017; interment immediately followed.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, of Main Street in Brookville, PA.
