Glenn Frank SmithGlenn Frank Smith, age 86, of Marienville, passed away at his home on January 11, 2017 after an extended illness.

Born on August 14, 1930, in Valley Grove, WV, he was the son of the late Glenn Royal and Florence Jean (Winter) Smith.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Donald Vernon Smith and his sister, Dorothy Jean (Smith) Walker.

He served his country as a member of the United States Army Intelligence Service, discharging in July, 1952. In November of that year, he married the former Wilda Mitchell, who survives.

Together, they raised a family and Frank became a devoted father and family man.

He was employed by Bell Telephone, later Verizon, and was responsible for supervising equipment maintenance in switching centers.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his children, sons Glenn M. Smith, of West Virginia and Patrick F. Smith of Leeper; and daughter Mary Elizabeth Smith of Auburn, Washington; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Shirley Smith, and numerous close nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion.

As per Frank’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services.
